		<description><![CDATA[Just a wonderful - and interesting! - post. I&#039;ve never heard of the Speech of the Unknown, which sort of proves your point. I can&#039;t help but think of our local school district, which hosted an ongoing argument about teaching Cesar Chavez but not certain of those doddering old 18th century guys. ;-) 

Speaking of late learning, it was only about five years ago that I got that drafting committee straight in my mind. I may have had a teacher who tried to teach me that Thomas Jefferson had a little help, but I didn&#039;t comprehend a2 + b2 = c2 until I was over 40, and I&#039;m sure they taught that in geometry. The teacher&#039;s not always at fault. 

I learned the lesson, though. In my own July 4 post I referenced the &lt;i&gt;authors&lt;/i&gt; of the Declaration. My teacher would be proud.
